CAREER OBJECTIVE: Social Studies Teacher Classroom, Online, or Blended

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:

I have fifteen years of experience as a secondary teacher, curriculum developer, and technology beta tester. The 21st Century skills of innovation, creativity, imagination, curiosity, collaboration, communication, initiative, problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership, self-direction, responsibility, interpersonal skills, cross-cultural skills, and computer and media literacy are modeled daily and expected of my students. I am part of a collection of highly skilled educators around the world who are connected via social media, researching, and speaking about educational technologies in the classroom and the changes that need to occur in schools to better prepare our students for immediate success. I have experience designing new curriculums that incorporated innovative technologies, information literacy, agility, and adaptability, better teaching methods and delivered higher level learning outcomes. I trained and collaborated with teachers on the effective use of technologies in the classroom and for student success in the world. Authentic assessment and the flat classroom project are ideas that I share with a cadre of educators who are truly globalizing education. The world is the new classroom and we must prepare students to work, act, and think globally; that they can make a difference now. I left my teaching job in North Carolina after a semester due to family responsibilities in Wisconsin. Left substitute teaching in 2012 for more regular full-time hours. I left my teaching job of 14 years in 2009 due my wife’s relocation and to be closer to my mother who had uterine cancer.
